Pet sitters and dog walkers in Greenville

Greenville is the one city we serve where you can text the shelter: send LOST or FOUND to 864-467-3950 any hour and Greenville County Animal Care picks it up — a system almost nobody new to town knows exists. It's also home to the Swamp Rabbit Trail, twenty-plus flat miles from Falls Park to Travelers Rest that function as the city's shared dog-walking artery, leashed the whole way.

Where

Covering Greenville and Greenville County

Providers list the parts of Greenville they actually travel to, which is usually a handful of neighbourhoods rather than the whole city. Between them the app covers North Main, Alta Vista, Augusta Road, Overbrook, Village of West Greenville, Hampton-Pinckney, Earle Historic District, Pettigru Historic District, Nicholtown, Parkins Mill, Botany Woods and Hollingsworth Park at Verdae, along with the rest of Greenville County. Search your own address in the app and it will show who is genuinely close rather than who is merely listed.

Being straight with you

Our Greenville coverage right now

We are onboarding our first Greenville providers, so coverage is filling in neighbourhood by neighbourhood rather than being complete everywhere. We would rather say that than show you a long list of names who cannot actually take your booking. Every provider verifies their ID with our team before they appear, and the app only shows people who are free for your dates.

If nobody is near you yet, it is worth checking back — Greenville is our home market and the first one we are building out.

Local rules

Dog laws in Greenville

The parts that catch people out, and where to check for yourself.

Greenville layers city and county rules. Inside the city, Code Sec. 4-14 bars letting a dog run at large beyond your own land — leashed everywhere off your property, including Falls Park, Unity Park and the whole Swamp Rabbit Trail; off-leash only inside the fenced dog parks. South Carolina's Rabies Control Act (S.C. Code § 47-5-60) requires every dog, cat and ferret to be vaccinated, and Greenville County goes a step further than most places: the serially numbered rabies tag must actually be worn on the collar whenever the dog is outdoors. There is no dog licence — city or county — the rabies tag is the required ID. The county rewrote its animal ordinance in 2025, including tethering standards; if you tether at all, check the current county rules rather than assuming the old ones.

Source: Greenville City Code ch. 4, Greenville County Code ch. 4 (2025 revised animal ordinance) and S.C. Code § 47-5-60. Checked 2026-10-29. Rules and fees change — confirm with the city or county before relying on this. More on pet ID tag laws.

Out and about

Dog parks in Greenville

All free, all fenced, and all leashed going in and out.

🐾

Conestee Dog Park — 840 Mauldin Road

The county's flagship: a 30,000-square-foot large-dog run and a 14,000-square-foot small-dog side, double gates, shade shelters and water — with fence corners deliberately rounded so a dog can't get pinned during play. Free, 9am–9pm, next to the 600-acre Conestee Nature Preserve for the on-leash part.

🐾

Pelham Mill Dog Park — 2770 E Phillips Road, Greer

Separate large and small areas with a sand run and water stations, overlooking the old mill dam ruins on the Enoree River. Free, 9am–9pm.

🐾

Pavilion Dog Park — 400 Scottswood Road, Taylors

Fenced small- and large-dog areas with shade, drinking water and a dog wash station — the only park on this list where you can rinse the mud off before the car. 8am–8pm.

🐾

Gower Park Dog Park — 24 Evelyn Avenue

The City of Greenville's own park at Gower Estates, open 6am–9:30pm — the close option for Augusta Road and Alta Vista.

If the worst happens

Lost a pet in Greenville?

Save these numbers now, not on the day.

328 Furman Hall Road — the open-admission county shelter where a found dog goes; it even takes neighbouring Spartanburg County's strays. You can text LOST or FOUND to the same number, any hour, to start a report.

For a loose or found dog inside the city limits.

305 Airport Road — adoptions and a low-cost clinic; strays go to County Animal Care on Furman Hall Road, not here.

Work through the first hour properly — our step-by-step plan covers what to do before you start making calls. A QR ID tag skips most of this: whoever finds your pet scans the code with their phone and reaches you directly, without a shelter or a scanner in between.

Being fair about it

Your other options in Greenville

  • ✓Rover and Wag — larger networks than ours, so if you need someone tonight they will usually have somebody. Their commission on new sitters is around 20%.
  • ✓A boarding kennel — predictable and staffed overnight, but your dog is somewhere unfamiliar rather than at home.
  • ✓A neighbour — free and trusted, until the week they are away too.

What you get booking through Kingston’s

  • ✓Every provider's photo ID is checked by a person on our team before they can appear in search or take a booking — that is what the green Verified badge means
  • ✓Message a provider before you commit, and keep talking through the booking with photos. The conversation stays attached to the booking, so what was agreed stays on the record
  • ✓Star ratings and reviews can only be left by someone who actually completed a booking with that provider — nobody else can post one
  • ✓If something goes wrong, report it in the app and your payment is held while we review it
  • ✓Providers keep 87% of what they charge against Rover's roughly 80%, so the same work pays a local sitter more — better-paid sitters stay, and a sitter who already knows your dog beats a cheaper stranger

We are the newest of these options in Greenville and have fewer providers than the national platforms — we would rather you knew that going in. How to judge any sitter for yourself applies whichever one you choose.

Questions

Greenville pet care FAQ

I found a stray dog in Greenville — what's the fastest way to report it?+

Text FOUND to 864-467-3950 — Greenville County Animal Care runs a text line on its main number, day or night. (LOST works the same way if yours is missing.) If the dog is wearing an ID or QR tag you may reach the owner directly and skip the shelter run entirely; otherwise the shelter at 328 Furman Hall Road is the open-admission intake for the whole county, Spartanburg strays included.

Does my dog need a licence in Greenville?+

No — neither the city nor Greenville County issues a dog licence. What the law does demand is South Carolina's rabies vaccination (S.C. Code § 47-5-60), and the county requires the numbered rabies tag to be physically worn whenever your dog is outdoors. That tag has no phone number on it, which is exactly why owners here pair it with an ID tag that does.

Can my dog be off-leash on the Swamp Rabbit Trail?+

No — the trail is leashed its whole length, as is Falls Park, Unity Park and everywhere else off your own land under City Code Sec. 4-14. The legal off-leash options are the fenced dog parks: Conestee, Pelham Mill, Pavilion and Gower. The trail is still the best dog amenity in the city — twenty-plus flat miles — just on a lead.

What does a dog walker cost in Greenville?+

Around $14–$22 for a 30-minute walk — Rover's Greenville average sat near $17 in late 2026. Boarding in a sitter's home runs $25–$51 a night with a median near $40, and overnight house sitting $40–$60.

Which Greenville dog park is best for a nervous or small dog?+

Conestee — its small-dog side is a full 14,000 square feet, the entries are double-gated, and the fences were built with rounded corners specifically so a dog can't get cornered during play. Pavilion in Taylors is the runner-up, with the bonus of a dog wash station for the ride home.

My dog got out in Greenville — who do I call first?+

Text LOST to 864-467-3950 straight away, then call Greenville Police animal control on 864-271-5333 if it happened inside the city. Check Animal Care at 328 Furman Hall Road in person — walk-in lost-and-found hours run roughly noon to 4 on weekdays — and post in the Greenville lost-pet Facebook groups the same hour.

Do you have providers in my part of Greenville?+

We're building out from the walkable core first — North Main, Alta Vista, Augusta Road, Overbrook. Open the app and search your address to see who's actually available near you; Greenville is our first South Carolina market and it's filling in steadily.

How is Kingston's different from Rover in Greenville?+

Providers keep 87% of what they charge, against roughly 80% for new Rover sitters — in a $17-a-walk market, that's the difference that keeps good sitters working. Booking is free for pet owners either way, and every booking sits behind our ID-verified provider review.
